How to Find a Valorant Team on Discord (and Get Picked Once You Join)

To find a Valorant team on Discord, look in LFG (looking for group) servers (search "Valorant LFG" in server discovery), then widen to Reddit LFG threads and LFG apps. Your post should give your rank, region, every role you can play, your weekly hours and, if you want Premier, your eligibility. Getting picked comes down to filling empty seats: a team has five seats but Riot has four roles, so players who cover two roles on the team's play nights fit more lineups.

Key takeaways

  • Use more than one place: LFG Discord servers, Reddit threads and LFG apps each have a weak spot.
  • A good LFG post names your rank, region, every role you play, your hours and, if you want Premier, your eligibility.
  • Check Riot's Premier rules first: SMS verification, one ranked placement and good standing.
  • Valorant has four agent roles for five seats, so players with two solid roles fit more lineups.
  • On a team that uses Supatimer, a night you leave blank is a night you can't be seated.

Where Valorant players actually find teams

Valorant players find teams in three places: LFG (looking for group) Discord servers, Reddit LFG threads, and LFG apps such as Premate, Gankster and Tapin. Each one has a weak spot, so use more than one.

  • LFG Discord servers. Open server discovery (the compass icon in your server list), search "Valorant LFG" and join a few servers with LFG channels for your region. Read each server's posting rules first.
  • Reddit. Search "Valorant LFG" plus your region, and sort by new.
  • LFG apps. Sign up on the app's site, then filter by rank and region.

To be fair to the apps: Premate's sign-up is free, and its lobby filters save you scrolling.

When a team answers, ask for its server invite and join before your tryout, so you see how the team talks and plays. One more thing: most guides that rank for this come from LFG products writing about their own tools. We build Supatimer, a free Discord bot for team scheduling, so weigh our advice the same way. Our guide to finding teammates covers the same ground across games.

What to put in your LFG post so a captain can say yes

Your post needs to answer five things at a glance. If one is missing, the captain has to DM you, or scrolls on.

  • Rank. Checked against the team's level and, for Premier (Riot's team competition in the game client), against the team's Division.
  • Region and time zone. Your ping, and whether your evenings line up with theirs.
  • Every role you can play. A captain with an empty Sentinel seat skips a post that only says Duelist.
  • The days and hours you're free. Real hours, with your time zone.
  • Premier eligibility, if you want Premier. Say you meet Riot's rules and aren't on another Premier roster.

A made-up example:

Diamond 2, EU (CET). Play Controller, Sentinel and Initiator, Controller best. Free Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 7-11 pm, and Sunday 2-6 pm. Premier eligible, not on a roster. Looking for a team that scrims and plays Premier.

Only write "Duelist" alone if Duelist is all you play.

Check your Premier eligibility before you apply

Riot sets the rules in its Premier support article, and a captain can't get around them. To join a Premier team, your account must:

  • Be verified by SMS on your Riot account.
  • Have completed at least one ranked placement.
  • Be in good standing. Any current ban or restriction, including AFK restrictions, makes you ineligible.

Two roster rules matter too. You can be on only one team roster at a time, so if two teams want you, only one can add you. And after a team's first match, you can't join if your MMR, your skill rating, would move the team into another Division, which is based on its top 5 players.

Why two roles get you seated more often

Riot puts every agent into one of four roles on its agents page: Duelist, Initiator, Controller or Sentinel. A team fields five players, so at least one role is doubled, and which one depends on the map. That's what a captain means by "we need a flex": someone who can cover more than one role. Supatimer's built-in Valorant preset has five seats for the same reason: Duelist, Initiator, Controller, Sentinel and Flex. The Valorant page shows it.

Many teams don't field one fixed five. The captain collects weekly availability and builds each night's lineup from whoever is free. On a team that uses Supatimer, the lineup builder does it in four steps:

  1. Each seat goes to a free player listed for its role, in roster order: mains first, then tryouts, subs and ringers.
  2. Seats still open go to free players not yet seated.
  3. If a role is still uncovered, it reassigns seated players to make room for someone who can cover it.
  4. It swaps players so more of them play their primary role.

Each role you're listed for is one more seat you can win in step one. A Duelist-only player competes for one seat. A player listed for Controller and Sentinel is in the running for two, and covers either when its player is away. Since mains come first, a newcomer mostly plays on nights a main is away, and the extra role is often what gets you in. Teams without the bot do much the same by hand.

Only list roles you can back up, though. A captain who seats you as Controller expects your smokes on time.

The hours you mark decide which nights you're considered

A night you leave blank is a night you can't be picked for, however many roles you list. On Supatimer's availability board in Discord, a day or time slot turns green when the free players can form a full lineup with the right roles. A yellow corner means it only works if the maybes show up.

So a clear answer beats a maybe: a yes counts toward a green slot, and an early no lets the captain find cover. You answer with buttons in your team's channel, with no signup. The interactive demo shows the board. If your week changes, update the board instead of DMing the captain.

What Supatimer does and does not do for a player looking for a team

Supatimer runs a team's week: availability, lineups and scrims. It won't find you a team. Its search by name finds teams only in your own server, and it's meant for teams looking for opponents through the scrim bot, so find your team through LFG servers, Reddit and apps.

Once you join a team that uses it, your roster status, your roles and the nights you mark are what seat you. It's free, with no paid tier, no ads and no credit card, and the open finances page shows how it's funded. If your new team still plans in DMs and a spreadsheet, suggest it to your captain: a server admin adds it, and the user guide walks them through setup.

Your next step: write the five things above and post them in an LFG server today.

Frequently asked questions

Where should you look to find a Valorant team?

Use more than one place. Search "Valorant LFG" in Discord's server discovery for LFG servers, search Reddit for Valorant LFG posts sorted by new, and use LFG apps for their filters. When a team answers, join its own server through its invite link.

What should a Valorant LFG post include?

Your rank, region and time zone, every role you can play in a real match, and the days and hours you're free each week. If you want Premier, add whether you're eligible and not on another roster.

Can I be on two Premier teams at once?

No. Riot allows a player on only one team roster at a time, so if you're trying out for two teams, only one of them can add you.

What does a captain mean by needing a flex?

Valorant has four agent roles for five players, so one role gets doubled depending on the map. A flex is a player who can cover whichever role the map doubles.

Does listing more roles always help?

Only roles you can back up. Each honest extra role makes you a match for another seat, but a role you can't play gets you seated in the wrong place.

Can Supatimer find me a Valorant team?

No. Its team search is for teams looking for scrim opponents, not for players. Find a team through LFG servers, Reddit or LFG apps. Supatimer helps once you join a team that uses it, through the weekly availability board and the lineup builder.
